1. Hide posts or stories from accounts you’ve followed, but you don’t like

Tired of your great-aunt’s ferret videos, but don’t want to hurt her by unfollow? The solution is simple: mute it!

How to proceed :

Method 1

  1. Navigate to the account you want to mute.
  2. Press the Following button .
  3. Press Mute .
  4. From this page, you can choose to hide only posts, or posts and story posted by this account.
  5. You also have the option to deactivate posts and stories by long pressing on a story in your stories section, or from a profile.

  1. In your News Feed, find a post from the person you want to mute and select the three dots in the upper right corner of the post.
  2. Press Mute .

2. Rearrange filters

How to proceed :

  1. When you post a photo or video, go to filters .
  2. Scroll through the filters to the end and press Manage .
  3. Tap and hold the two or three line icon next to each filter on the left side of the screen and drag the item to rearrange the order of your filters.
  4. Check or uncheck the circles next to each filter on the right side of the screen to hide or show filters.
  5. Click the Done check mark to save your settings.

7. Add your favorite posts to your collections

A collection is like a digital photo album, in which you can save your favorite publications.

How to proceed :

  1. Navigate to the post you want to save.
  2. Tap the bookmark icon under the post you want to save.
  3. The publication will automatically be added to a generic collection. If you want to add it to a specific collection, tap Save to collection . You can then select an existing collection or press the + icon to create a new collection and name it.

8. Delete your old posts (while keeping them)

Instagram’s archive feature lets you hide your old posts without deleting them.

How to proceed :

  1. Tap the three dots at the top of the post you want to archive.
  2. Select Check In .
  3. To see all archived posts, go to your profile and tap the three bar menu in the top right corner.
  4. Tap Archives .
  5. At the top of the screen, tap Archives to view posts or stories.
  6. If you want to restore content to your public profile, just tap Show on profile at any time to get it back to its original place.

9. Limit your duration of use

Just because you can scroll the page endlessly doesn’t mean you have to. Set yourself limits with Instagram’s built-in timer.

How to proceed :

  1. Go to your profile and tap on the three bar menu .
  2. Tap Your activity > Set daily reminder .
  3. Choose the duration and click Set Reminder .

10. Incorporate line breaks in your captions

Follow this trick to control the density of your captions by creating line breaks.

How to proceed :

  1. Edit your photo and go to the caption writing screen.
  2. Write your caption.
  3. To access the Enter key, press the 123 key on your device keyboard.
  4. Press the Enter key to add line breaks to your caption.

Note: Line breaks refer to a new line, but they cannot be used to create a paragraph return. To create one, write a caption for your photo in your phone’s note-taking app, and copy it to Instagram. Want to air your text even more? Add bullets, dashes, or other punctuation marks.

11. Schedule your publications in advance

Schedule your content to post at the perfect time with any third party Instagram scheduling tool. You can search Google for these tolls but be aware that it can get access to your account.

12. Publish from your computer

Do you have a bunch of pictures on your computer of your cat dressed as David Bowie? You don’t have to send them to your phone to reveal them to the world. (But hurry, we are waiting!)

14. Hide comments in your news feed

How to proceed :

  1. At the top right of your profile, select the three bar menu and tap Settings .
  2. Tap Privacy .
  3. Tap Comments .
  4. Configure Manual Filters for specific words or phrases, or select Hide offensive comments to automatically filter out bad terms.
  5. You can’t turn off comments for your entire profile, but you can turn them off on a particular post by selecting Advanced settings> Turn off comments when posting your post.

  1. Tap the three dots to the right of their name and select Hide story for [username].
  2. Note: Hiding your story does not block someone, nor does it prevent them from seeing your profile and posts.

17. Use your own fonts in your stories

For some reason, the Jokerman font is not natively available on Instagram. But don’t give up hope: there is a way to use this wacky font and other custom fonts.

How to proceed :

  1. Open a font tool. You will find many free options through your browser, , for example. Beware of third-party keyboard apps that can monitor anything you write!
  2. Write your message with the font tool of your choice.
  3. Select the font you want.
  4. Copy the text and paste it into your story (this also works for profile bios and post captions).

  1. Tap your featured story, then tap Edit Featured Content .

  1. Open a note-taking app and write your bio the way you’d like it to appear, including line breaks.
  2. Select the text and press Copy .

28. Hide hashtags in posts and stories

How to proceed :

Method 1

  1. To hide your hashtags, there is a simple solution available to you: rather than adding them to your caption, write them in a comment below your post.

  6. Tap Send at the bottom of the screen.

Note: If you select multiple recipients without creating a group, the message is sent separately to each user.

31. Edit a friend’s pictures

Don’t know how to show your affection to your friends? Nothing could be simpler: add original emojis to their photos!

How to proceed :

  1. When viewing a friend’s picture message, tap the camera icon at the bottom of the screen, and type a reply.
  2. Your reply includes a sticker of the message you are replying to.
  3. Move and resize it, and give it your personal touch with stickers, text and designs.
  4. Remember to enable the Allow Replay setting at the bottom of the screen so that your friends can change your image in turn.
