Instagram has started rolling out new fonts for its Stories . The company has been testing these new fonts with a small percentage of people since April and it looks like everyone is benefiting from them from now on.
The appeal of these new fonts will no doubt be different depending on the age group to which you belong. However, if you like fancy fonts, here’s how you can use them on Instagram Stories.
First, open the Instagram app and go to the “Create” section. As soon as you start typing the text you want, you will see a list of fonts scrolling horizontally at the bottom. To be precise, there will be a total of nine fonts, including existing fonts.
Please note that you will not be able to define different fonts for each word of the same sentence . If you try to do this even after selecting a specific word, the app will change the font for the whole line. Instead, you can work around it by adding each word as different sentences and lining them up together so that it looks like the same sentence.
For those wondering what each font looks like, I’ve typed a single word in all of the available fonts, which you can see in the image below. This should give you a rough idea of what to expect.
A Comic Sans font
Interestingly, Instagram has decided to add a Comic Sans type font to their font collections. You may or may not be a fan of this font depending on your take on Comic Sans, but a lot of people on Twitter are voicing their disapproval.
Your Instagram app will likely have these fonts available by now. If you don’t see them, make sure the app is updated to the latest version available on the App Store or Google Play Store.
